Through her Basic Pilates class, Kelly introduces students to Buff Bones®, a medically-endorsed system of movement for bone and joint health, which leverages bone-strengthening and balance techniques along with Pilates, functional movement, strength training and therapeutic exercise. Toning your arms, hips, back and abs, the program strives to improve posture is safe for those with osteoporosis. 
 
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Golden Barre Class - Golden Barre - Spring 2024
It’s the anti-aging workout for active older adults who are looking to improve balance, flexibility, and strength. For our “Barre Tenders”, the barre (or in most cases for students – a chair) is used as a prop for balance, while performing low-impact exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. For our class: NO actual Barre is required, just a chair or a solid surface (table, countertop, etc). Please note, however: There is no seated work with this program, you will be standing for the duration of class.*Water, towel, and light hand weights are recommended -- but not required.This class will be held in person and live streamed via ZOOM.

A great first step towards Little League!  Players are divided into teams to learn and play the game of baseball.  The teams will spend the first three weeks working on skills and drills with their respective coaches.  The final three weeks the teams will play instructional games based on their team's schedule. This program will delve a little further into the exercises, and intensity will be increased for more advanced individuals. It is recommended participants bring their own yoga mats.
 
11:00 AM - 12:00 PM    Fit for Life for Seniors - Fit for Life - Spring 2024
The use of light weights and gentle cardiovascular movements are combined to improve overall muscle tone and heart health.  Participants will enjoy fun music while working in a group exercise atmosphere of support in the Rec Center Gym.  Don't have any weights, now worries we can get creative with basic household items.This class will be held in person and live streamed via ZOOM.
 
4:00 PM - 5:30 PM    Sports Sampler* - Sports Sampler
Participants will play a variety of indoor sports including basketball, kickball, volleyball, and more!  A different sport will be featured each week.

Program Instructor: Johanna AsherMusic class for ages 9 month -5 years.Bring your young one for a fun and engaging music time with Ms. Johanna! Sing songs. Move and clap to the beat. Shake shakers. Learn, hands-on, how different string and percussion instruments feel and sound. You and your child in our small-group setting will sing some new songs, join in finger play and revive some old favorites. Using the guitar, ukulele and other instruments, we will listen for different sounds and their tone. Are they slow, fast, high, low? The children participate using egg shakers, rhythm sticks and other instruments during our classes. Most importantly, the kids will enjoy the sounds around them along with their music friends.About the Instructor: Class is led by Johanna Asher, who teaches preschool music in the area.

Join Cecily at the Barre each Tuesday morning, as we look to transform ourselves into lean, strong and healthy beings. Cecily will guide you through a rigorous line-up of yoga, ballet and pilates-inspired exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles), as we combine high reps with small range-of-motion movements.*Equipment Needed: water, towel, mat and light hand weights.

Everyone has stories to tell, whether or not they stem from imagination or memory. Have you always wanted to write but think you're not a writer? Need encouragement to move past a block? Want to hone your craft? Interested in personal memoir? This is the workshop for you, whether you're a beginner or an experienced writer. Susan Wallach provides a safe atmosphere, using prompts to spark your creative voice ** all writing done in the workshop**

The traditional ballet workout does indeed work. Classes focus on total fitness - body and mind. Each class will begin with a sequence of "barre" exercises followed by stretching and strengthening floor exercises and ending with "center" work.  You will need comfortable attire and ballet slippers or socks.

Every Wednesday, join us for an hour filled with HIIT (high intensity interval training) exercises designed to target core muscles while burning calories and building muscle tone. Class will also feature floor work, upper body strengthening and toning, and abdominal work as well! This class is for women only.Equipment needed: light hand weights, towel, mat and water bottle.

"Beautiful! A Carole King Musical" at White Plains Broadway Theater + Lunch Join us as we head to the White Plains Performing Arts Center to see "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"! The bus will depart the Philipstown Recreation Center at 10:30 AM as we head to White Plains. Before the show we will be enjoying a wonderful family style meal at TVB by Pax Romana, a nearby nice Italian restaurant! Good food, a good show, and good company! Don't miss out! We are expected to return to Garrison around 5:00 PM.CANCELLATION POLICY -- these tickets have already been purchased. If you cancel your spot, and we are not able to fill the open seat, you will be responsible for the cost of the ticket (you may also find a friend to take the seat if we do not have a wait list). This includes illnesses. A doctor's note will not get you out of a ticketed event.Empire City Casino + Lunch at Seashore RestaurantJoin us as we return to Empire City Casino to try our luck, and hopefully win big! Afterwards we will eat a late lunch at the Sea Shore Restaurant on City Island! Good food, and a chance to win! *The Casino does not offer any packages or free slot plays at this time.The bus will depart from the Philipstown Recreation Center at 9:00 AM, and we expect to return to Garrison around 6:00 PM. June 18 Brotherhood winery   Join us for a tour of the beautiful Brotherhood winery! The tour will include a tasting, as well as a lunch at the 1839 Restaurant. The bus will depart from the Philipstown Recreation Center at 10:00 AM, and we are expected back around 4:00 PM. This trip will require some walking, including stairs. July 19 CIA: American Bounty RestaurantWe're headed back to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park! This year we are going to the American Bounty Restaurant! The bus will meet us at the Philipstown Park in Garrison at 9:00AM, with an expected return around 2:00PM. We will have some excellent food at the CIA's American restaurant, and then go on a short tour. Minimal walking required.

This yoga class provides light hearted instruction in breathing techniques, alignment and body awareness in a friendly, community atmosphere.   This is a beginning level class appropriate for those who are new to yoga, returning to a practice or those with a beginner's mind. Those with injuries or physical limitations will be assisted in finding safe and comfortable adaptations. The emphasis is on Basic Floor poses, along with some standing poses and final relaxation; this is not a power or Vinyasa class. Yoga offers the opportunity to learn to better manage stress, improve concentration, flexibility and balance.

The traditional ballet workout does indeed work. Classes focus on total fitness - body and mind. Each class will begin with a sequence of "barre" exercises followed by stretching and strengthening floor exercises and ending with "center" work.  You will need comfortable attire and ballet slippers or socks.

Every Wednesday, join us for an hour filled with HIIT (high intensity interval training) exercises designed to target core muscles while burning calories and building muscle tone. Class will also feature floor work, upper body strengthening and toning, and abdominal work as well! This class is for women only.Equipment needed: light hand weights, towel, mat and water bottle.

This yoga class provides light hearted instruction in breathing techniques, alignment and body awareness in a friendly, community atmosphere.   This is a beginning level class appropriate for those who are new to yoga, returning to a practice or those with a beginner's mind. Those with injuries or physical limitations will be assisted in finding safe and comfortable adaptations. The emphasis is on Basic Floor poses, along with some standing poses and final relaxation; this is not a power or Vinyasa class. Yoga offers the opportunity to learn to better manage stress, improve concentration, flexibility and balance.

Through her Basic Pilates class, Kelly introduces students to Buff Bones®, a medically-endorsed system of movement for bone and joint health, which leverages bone-strengthening and balance techniques along with Pilates, functional movement, strength training and therapeutic exercise. Toning your arms, hips, back and abs, the program strives to improve posture is safe for those with osteoporosis.

It’s the anti-aging workout for active older adults who are looking to improve balance, flexibility, and strength. For our “Barre Tenders”, the barre (or in most cases for students – a chair) is used as a prop for balance, while performing low-impact exercises that focus on isometric strength training (holding your body still while you contract a specific set of muscles) combined with high reps of small range-of-motion movements. For our class: NO actual Barre is required, just a chair or a solid surface (table, countertop, etc). Please note, however: There is no seated work with this program, you will be standing for the duration of class.*Water, towel, and light hand weights are recommended -- but not required.This class will be held in person and live streamed via ZOOM.

The use of light weights and gentle cardiovascular movements are combined to improve overall muscle tone and heart health.  Participants will enjoy fun music while working in a group exercise atmosphere of support in the Rec Center Gym.  Don't have any weights, now worries we can get creative with basic household items.This class will be held in person and live streamed via ZOOM.

A Carole King Musical" at White Plains Broadway Theater + Lunch Join us as we head to the White Plains Performing Arts Center to see "Beautiful: The Carole King Musical"! The bus will depart the Philipstown Recreation Center at 10:30 AM as we head to White Plains. Before the show we will be enjoying a wonderful family style meal at TVB by Pax Romana, a nearby nice Italian restaurant! Good food, a good show, and good company! Don't miss out! We are expected to return to Garrison around 5:00 PM.CANCELLATION POLICY -- these tickets have already been purchased. If you cancel your spot, and we are not able to fill the open seat, you will be responsible for the cost of the ticket (you may also find a friend to take the seat if we do not have a wait list). This includes illnesses. The bus will depart from the Philipstown Recreation Center at 10:00 AM, and we are expected back around 4:00 PM. This trip will require some walking, including stairs. July 19 CIA: American Bounty RestaurantWe're headed back to the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park! This year we are going to the American Bounty Restaurant! The bus will meet us at the Philipstown Park in Garrison at 9:00AM, with an expected return around 2:00PM. We will have some excellent food at the CIA's American restaurant, and then go on a short tour. Minimal walking required.
