The Wizard of Oz - Junior
Come Join the wonderful World of Oz! In this class we're going to plat theater games, work on character development and creative movement as well as dive into the Wizard of Oz ensemble! Learn what it's like to be in a full length show with the older group at The Depot! There will be acting, singing and dancing! You will have the opportunity to play multiple roles in this production. We need; Munchkins, Flying Monkeys, Poppies, Trees, Emerald City people and Puppeteers! Get ready to have fun and learn the ropes of being in a show with the older kids, while having fun!

Sarah Law is a theater professional from NY. She is an actor, vocal artist, improviser, and a theater educator with over 20 years of experience. She has a BFA in Theater from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia and a Master of Arts in Applied Theater from CUNY SPS. She served as the Director of Education for Staten Island’s Illuminart Productions for 3 years. She has worked as a theater educator in NYC schools, residential treatment centers, senior centers, and the Kigali Institute of Education in Rwanda. She worked as a director with Queens Theater youth and SuCasa programming. Sarah was the sound designer with CAT youth theater for three seasons. She also has extensive experience developing and facilitating Theater of the Oppressed workshops for a variety of organizations and trainings.

Program Information
  • Location: The Philipstown Depot Theatre
  • Age: 1-3rd graders
  • Instructors: Sarah Law, assisted by Elaine Llewellyn and Elsa Minkin
  • Mondays- 3:30-4:30 on 9/11, 9/18, 10/2, 10/16, 10/23, 10/30, 11/6, 11/13
  • Wednesdays- 3:30-4:30 on 9/27, 10/11
  • Full Cast- 3:30-5:30 on Wednesday 11/8, 11/15, 11/27, 11/29
  • Tech Rehearsal- Sunday 11/26 2:00-6:00 (cast called as needed)
  • Dress Rehearsal- 3:30-6:00 Thursday 11/30
  • Final Dress Rehearsal- 4:00-7:00 Friday 12/1
  • Performances: Saturday 12/2 at 2:00 & 4:00 and Sunday 12/3 at 2:00 & 4:00

  • As of today, we are requiring masks for all individuals who enter the Community Center.
  • All youth program participants must wear masks at all time.
  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 or experienced any symptoms in the past 10 days, please do not come to the program activity and call for more information.
  • You will received more detailed COVID-19 protocol by email, one week prior to the program starting.
